Dr. Richard Peterson on AI’s Economic and Market Impact
Dr. Richard Peterson on AI economic and market impact (via Invezz's Harsh Vardhan at the Zero Sum podcast):
• AI is more likely to add jobs than cut them. Engineering vacancies are rising, and firms adopting AI often grow headcount elsewhere. The real challenge is re-skilling speed.
• This rally has real profits behind it. Unlike the dot-com era, Nvidia and Micron have real margins.
• Competition is the bigger risk, not the technology. New inference chips (with on-board memory) and Chinese LLM alternatives are excellent quality.
• Sentiment turns before prices. Optimism peaks early, and social media sours before financial media.
• The next winners may sit deeper in the supply chain: networking, optical, and chip equipment. Nuclear, solar, and storage are longer-term plays.
